George Cloos 8-Key

$19999 $29999
Condition:

Very Good / Restored Condition

Antique flute most likely of German origin ~ 1930 or newer.  A Meyer type flute stamped "Geo. Cloos" (U.S. Dealer).  Serial number 9510.  Recently restored with fresh pads.  All keys work.  The bottom C/C# keys being a bit tough to play due to their design.

The "L.P." marking denotes "Low Pitch".  Wants to be played slightly lower than modern A=440hz pitch though can be played at modern pitch with the slide pushed in all the way.  Tuning of the flute requires the player to lip up/down a good bit to play with good intonation.  Does have a nice tone though does not speak strong as most would desire for Irish traditional music.  Is a nicely restored Meyer type flute though and a nice collectors piece.  Comes with a newer wooden box as well as the original.
