Consort set of four Renaissance flutes by Barbara Stanley, comprising an Alto in A, Alto in G, Tenor in D, and Bass in G—each turned from boxwood and built together as a matched set for consort playing. These beautifully made flutes are in excellent, as-new condition and reflect the refined craftsmanship associated with Stanley’s work during her career in the late 20th century. A respected English maker, Barbara Stanley was known within the early music community and had a personal connection with James Tyler, the director of USC's early music program for many years. This particular set was originally commissioned by one of Tyler’s students, inspired by the Stanley-made tenor flute in the university’s collection. A rare and well-preserved example of her work, offered here as a complete consort.
