A clean, clear, and beautifully balanced narrow bore whistle. The tone is pure and open across both registers, with the lower octave carrying real strength and presence. The narrow bore lends the upper octave a lighter, more nimble and sweeter character, and the intonation is excellent throughout. This is a whistle with no bad habits: it sits in tune, responds immediately, and plays with an ease that lets you focus entirely on the music. The body is aluminum with a Delrin-tipped mouthpiece. The Delrin tip means condensation buildup in the windway is not the problem it can be with many all-metal whistles. The whistle features Burke's characteristic tuning slide construction and is in excellent condition.
About the Maker
Burke's design incorporates o-ring slides and Delrin-lined windways to ensure intonation and octave tuning, with tone and transient response further refined through traditional hand voicing. The whistles are made on CNC machines, producing a high degree of precision. Burke makes whistles in brass, composite, and aluminum, in a variety of styles and keys, from his workshop in Murphysboro, Illinois.
