Olwell Restored Peloubet Cocus & Nickel Silver 8-Key

$2,49999
Condition:

Condition: Very Good Restored Antique (~1835)

Patrick & I (Blayne) are big fans of Peloubets.  I'm especially a fan of those restored (retuned & voiced/rebored by Pat ;).  This one plays with modern intonation and is energetic and responsive throughout with a strong bottom D (even a strong bottom C#/C).  If you're looking for a smaller holed flute that can still speak in a small to medium sized session, is great for recording and performing Irish trad to classical, this is it!  This flute reminds me very much of the Rudall that Chris Norman plays - similar sized finger holes and similar power and response.

Notes from Patrick:

"Nickel silver mounted, a nice flute for any music, beautiful Cocus wood, with a thin glued crack in the barrel, but no crack in head joint. No cracks in body or socket, but part of short F and long F blocks have been repaired. The head joint is nice in that the chimney height is taller than an English flute of the period, which most people find easier to play. A big enough sound for Irish music, but lots of nuance in the tone and expression, for other kinds of music. One of the nice things about Peloubet flutes is no flat foot syndrome, and the pewter keys work well with a very nice low C# and C nat."
