Note: Paul has recently scaled back his whistle making. Please contact us for current avail before placing an order for one here.
Paul Busman from Clifton Park, New York takes great pride in creating Irish whistles that look as good as they sound. To that end, he employs a variety of exotic hardwoods and durable polymers complimented by precision fittings of stainless steel and brass. Before going out on his own, Paul studied whistle making from the late & great Glenn Schultz of Thin Weasel Woodwinds.
Paul currently makes Irish whistles in the keys of C, D, D-Plus and Eb. D-Plus whistles have the same fingering pattern and pitch as regular D whistles, but have an additional low C note added for those occasional tunes that need it.
This is our custom order page for Paul's whistles. As you can see below, you have a lot of choices! Make your choice based on what you like the look of best as the tone of each wood / polymer will be similar. If you would like Paul to make you a whistle in another wood / material than what is shown here, please contact us to make arrangements.
Acetyl polymer, sometimes referred to as Delrin, is a high quality plastic material that is ideal for woodwind instruments as it has similar tonal characteristics to exotic hardwoods such as what you see below yet is resilient to changes in relative humidity and temperature. Many choose black acetyl polymer as it looks just like African blackwood, a popular wood choice for Irish whistles & flutes. Only on close inspection will you notice the difference.
Please Note: These instruments are made to order. Turnaround time is typically 2 to 3 months and are well worth the wait!
