The wood is vacuum resin infused, a process Geoffrey Ellis began using in 2015 in which dried billets are submerged in liquid resin under vacuum so the wood draws resin deep into its pores. Infused wood runs 30 to 60 percent denser than untreated stock, and in some cases twice as dense. The practical upshot is stability: strong resistance to moisture, very little movement with changes in temperature and humidity, and a flute that asks very little in the way of maintenance.
