The Original Series
The Original Series captures the essence of what makes a Lowden guitar. Designed with George Lowden's unique and original bracing, these guitars deliver the distinctive Lowden sound: full, warm, and dynamically responsive. With understated aesthetics and a focus on tonal purity, the Original Series is where Lowden's tradition of innovation and craftsmanship began. First developed back in 1976, these guitars feature hand-selected solid AAA grade tonewoods with all wood bindings, purflings, and rosette.
The F
The F ('Flat picker') is Lowden's mid-size body shape and a design classic in its own right, first introduced in 1982 and refined in 2003 with a smaller soundhole for extra projection and focus. Known for its versatility, the F is well suited to a wide range of playing styles—from fingerpicking to strumming—making it an excellent choice for the all-round guitarist. With a focused midrange, articulate voice, and excellent sustain, the F offers a balance of comfort and projection that performs equally well on stage or in the studio.
Tonewoods
This F-32C features a Sitka spruce top paired with Indian rosewood back and sides—a time-honored tonewood combination. Over the years, the 32 has become highly sought after for its full-bodied yet clear and defined tone. The Sitka spruce top beautifully balances the warmth and fullness of the rosewood, creating rich, piano-like lows with sparkly trebles. Together, these woods deliver tonal richness with focused projection, making this guitar perfect for flat-picking and fingerstyle playing.
Ideal for
All-rounder—great for fingerstyle, strumming, and flat picking. The F model provides the same tonal richness as larger Lowden bodies but with more focused projection, making it ideal for both stage performance and intimate playing settings.
Tone profile
Warm, full, and clear with focused projection. Crisp, ultra-clean treble combined with remarkable bass extension. The inherent balance and even response create excellent note separation and definition across all registers. When strumming, the unwound strings produce a lovely pseudo 12-string effect while a low-mid thump helps propel rhythm parts.
Comfort
Comfortable without sacrificing power, the mid-sized body strikes a practical balance for players of varying builds. The cutaway provides easy access to the upper regions of the fretboard, giving you a complete playing experience.
