8-Key Olwell Restored Firth & Pond Flute in Cocus

$2,69999
Condition:

Restored antique by Patrick Olwell and later, Bill Balentine / Madera Winds (footjoint only).  In addition to major improvements to bore and intonation by Patrick Olwell, there are repaired/sealed cracks in the headjoint and barrel (typical of antique flutes).

This flute is not just a collector's item, but a player's dream! It's easy to play and very responsive, good for someone who wants to play with a strong sound. It has incredible power for a flute with small to medium sized holes. It is great for someone with smaller hands wanting that more edgy Irish tone. Patrick Olwell did a lot of tweaking to get it to play at modern pitch and to play with lots of energy and power. Same tone hole sizes as Olwell's small holed "Rudall" model. It is very efficient in terms of breath. It has lovely wide rings with bands. Mottled cocus graining is very lovely.

Patrick restored all but the bottom C & C# keys which were later repaired & mounted by Bill Balentine of Madera Winds.

All in all, a gorgeous antique flute that plays like a modern day Olwell with spot-on intonation!
