has a lovely birdlike sweet tone, plays really nicely and is very responsive. The thin wall gives a tone reminiscent of the old, classic mass produced whistles, without any of the issues those whistles have. This whistle is expertly made and plays great and has a wonderful sound. Volume is quiet to moderate-would suit a small to medium size session. The beauty of the high D whistle is that in the session they're an octave higher so they have their own "sonic real estate" and still really stand out without need to be too loud. This is an amazing whistle and a great price!
