A limited-edition set issued to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Kelischek Workshop. The five whistles are finished in a distinctive Camelia color not found on standard Kildare production runs. All Kildare models feature a curved windway and separate head and body sections, and pitch can be adjusted by pulling the head joint in or out. The bore is slightly tapered. The set covers five keys, B, C, Db, D, and E, giving a player the full range of keys commonly called for in Irish traditional music. Comes with wooden stand.
About the Maker
Kelischek Workshop for Historical Instruments was founded by Geigenbaumeister (Master Violin Maker) George Kelischek in Witten, Germany, on May 1st, 1955. The workshop moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1960, then relocated in 1970 to a much larger, newly-built home and workshops on 32 acres of land in Brasstown, North Carolina, where it remains today. The workshop's emphasis is in the field of early music and folk music, and all Susato pennywhistles, tabor pipes, recorders, crumhorns, and related instruments are manufactured in-house in Brasstown. The Kildare whistle line, now marketed under the Kelischek name, has long been a favorite among session players for its consistent construction and practical multi-key design.
