In 1948, Heinz Rössler established Roessler-Recorder Manufacturing in Weddingstedt near Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, where the workshop remains to this day. Growing demand for these handmade instruments led to the company’s steady expansion. By the early 1960s, the product line was enhanced with high-quality instruments inspired by historical designs, such as alto recorders based on J.W. Oberlender (1681–1763) and D-tenors modeled after J.C. Denner (1655–1707). Ulf Rössler, who joined the family business in 1976 and now owns the company, has continued to oversee a diverse product range. This includes recorders for beginners crafted from fruit woods, professional-grade master instruments, and solo recorders made from exotic woods, covering sizes from sopranino to sub-bass.
