Condition: Restored by Patrick Olwell. Right hand section was replaced (made complete new) by Patrick as it was in such poor condition starting out - though he was able to use the original ring. Crown was missing and Pat fashioned a new one. Lip plate is also new.

Stamped Wylde, from Rudall & Rose, 25 Villiers St., Strand, London. Silver Fittings & Keywork.  Beautiful flute by Wylde that was believed to be made after 1840. Doesn't have the flat foot syndrome that many early Rudall style flutes had. Plays well at A440 with good intonation with the slide out about 3/4". REALLY sings though when you push the slide in. Very possible that this flute was made to be played both low and high pitch originally. Has a nice strong bottom D. Great flute for playing anything from Irish trad to classical repertoire. Pat mentioned that he didn't have to retune this flute much if at all.

The main 6-keys work great. The bottom C/C# pewter keys would need further work to get them playing well.

Great price on a beautiful piece of history that's also a great player!
