Firth, Hall & Pond cocus flute with ivory rings and silver keys, dating to approximately 1822-1847 based on serial number. The flute features a newly made Olwell headjoint (serial number 1698) fitted to the original brass tube.

The instrument is constructed of cocus wood with ivory rings and silver keys throughout. The barrel has been repaired from a crack and shows one ivory ring with a crack as well, but is otherwise structurally sound.

The flute plays at modern pitch (A440) and produces a strong & clear tone with good volume relative to its moderate-sized finger holes, which are easy to reach. The foot keys function properly. The C sharp key is responsive and strong, while the low C speaks clearly though with moderate projection.
