A fantastic player for anyone looking for a really powerful Pratten-style flute. It is powerful, with excellent tuning and voicing.
The six keys are Pratten-inspired, with platter-style cups and foam pads that are very solid and responsive, and easy to maintain. The body is blackwood with silver keys and rings. There are no cracks, and the only wear is light surface scuffing.
About the Maker
John Gallagher builds flutes in West Virginia, and he worked alongside the late Rod Cameron for years; Cameron was the California maker best known for his baroque flutes. Gallagher's own models reach from baroque designs after Stanesby, Grenser, Denner and Bizey to the Pratten, which he makes in both D and F, and Rudall and Rose models with small or large holes.
