An end blown Anasazi style flute in bamboo, pitched in Bb, carrying the maker's mark and dated 2015. Six finger holes, with a binding wrap at the foot. A woven southwestern pattern fabric sleeve is included.

The Anasazi flute is a long, end blown tube with no fipple or block, played by covering most of the opening with the lips and directing the breath across the exposed rim. The type is known from four flutes excavated at Broken Flute Cave in northern Arizona in 1931, tree ring and radiocarbon dated to roughly 620 to 670 CE, each with six finger holes. Erik's version adapts that original design with an Andean quena style notch cut into the mouth end, which makes getting a note out of it a far quicker business than a true rim blown flute allows.
