The 35 Series

In 2004, George Lowden created the 35 series for players who wanted upgrades over the Original series, particularly the best tuners available along with more detailed appointments in general. The 35 Series is crafted for the discerning musician who craves an extraordinary playing experience, unveiling a whole new world of subtle tone colors and dynamic range, handcrafted with premium select tonewoods.

The O

The O (Original) body style was the first Lowden design by George Lowden and has remained in production since 1976. The O-size body features a width of 16½ inches at the lower bout and a depth of 4¾ inches, making it a jumbo-sized instrument. While the O has been likened to a jumbo style guitar, it has a unique design and voice of its own, with soundbox geometry and bracing voicing designed to increase treble response, which balances the natural bass-heavy tonal characteristics of large-bodied guitars.

Tonewoods

This O-35 features a red cedar top paired with Indian rosewood back and sides—a classic and highly regarded tonewood combination.

Red cedar delivers dynamic response with beautiful bell-like overtones when you dig in, offering warmth and immediate responsiveness. Indian rosewood provides rich overtones with tight bass and defined midrange, keeping the low-end round and the midrange warm. Together, these woods create a beautifully balanced tone with full frequency response across the whole spectrum.

Ideal for

Like most Lowden O models, the O-35 is very well-suited to playing fingerstyle, offering quick response even with a light touch and excellent balance. These qualities have made O-size Lowdens a favorite among players of both fingerstyle and Irish-style backup.

Tone profile

Big, rich overall tone with bass you can feel and crisp, clear, balanced mids and highs. The O-35 is an incredibly powerful guitar with no apparent volume limitations—the harder you play, the louder it becomes, delivering tonal richness and complexity.

Comfort

Optional upgraded comfort contoured arm bevel allows for comfort during many hours of playing, making this jumbo O model feel thinner.
