A lovely, hand-made low whistle from Ian Lambe of County Clare, carrying his attractive maker's stamp. This one has clearly been a favorite; it shows honest wear from plenty of playing, including a mark worn in from regular use.
These are free-blowing whistles that do not ask for much air. Rather than the tight, focused voice of an Overton, this one is more flute-like and open, relatively light in the hands and not especially loud, with a mellow tone. The second octave comes easily.
Ian sold these directly and through our previous business WhistleAndDrum.com, and they rarely turn up on the secondhand market, which makes this a genuinely cool find.
