Lowden Guitars F-35c East Indian Rosewood & Red Cedar

The Lowden 35 series, introduced in 2004, refines the original design with upgraded hardware and more detailed appointments.  It is built with AAAA-grade tonewoods, East Indian rosewood back and sides under a Red Cedar soundboard, and dressed with figured maple throughout.

The F is Lowden's medium-sized body, known for a focused, articulate voice and clear projection that works across fingerstyle, flatpicking, and strumming. The Venetian cutaway opens up the upper register for lead and melodic playing without compromising the body's response.

The Red Cedar top gives the guitar its warmth and immediacy, reacting to the lightest touch and lending a rounded, vocal quality to the midrange. The East Indian rosewood back and sides extend that voice in both directions, adding throaty lows and bell-like, articulate highs along with the sustain and harmonic depth rosewood is valued for. At AAAA grade, both woods are selected from the top tier of Lowden's stock, and the result is a warm, richly layered tone with real clarity on top.

Visually, the guitar is set off by figured maple binding and a maple-bound ebony fingerboard, with maple, rocklite, and mahogany purflings framing the rosewood and cedar. The light maple lines against the dark woods give it a clean, understated elegance.

Tone profile

Warm and harmonically rich, with deep lows, articulate sparkling highs, strong sustain, and a responsive, touch-sensitive feel.
