Plays equally well as a flute and as a low whistle: one body, two heads. For a flute with medium to medium-small holes it has real power and energy, and the intonation is good through both registers.
Holes 3 and 6 are offset to help players with smaller hands. With the low whistle head fitted, a player with medium-sized hands can play it without piper's grip. A good choice for a flute player who likes to pick up a low whistle now and then, or for a whistle player getting into the flute.
African blackwood, in excellent condition, with a velcro soft case.
About the Maker
Ralph Gorton Sweet Jr. (1929 to 2019) founded the Sweetheart Flute Company on his property in Hazardville, a village of Enfield, Connecticut, where for some 45 years he made wooden flutes, fifes and whistles. He retired in 2017 and closed the company, handing the workshop to Joseph Morneault, his shop foreman of a dozen years, who carries on there under his own name, Musique Morneaux, and continues to service Sweetheart instruments.
