An antique six-key flute with no maker's mark, in really nice condition for its age. The head joint and barrel seal well, the end grain shows no crack, and there is no evidence of repaired cracks. It has fresh pads and fresh cork stoppers, and the construction is lovely, with silver-tipped tenons and sockets and silver-lined sockets.
This is a small-hole flute, sweet and responsive rather than a session cannon. Intonation is pretty good, and the F# sits slightly flat and comes up easily with the lip. It plays at A=440 with the head joint pushed all the way in, in the manner of French-style flutes built around a lower pitch.
A nice six-key for a player with smaller hands, someone getting into keys, or anyone drawn to classical-type repertoire. It comes in a black hard case.
