Gerock 8-key

$49999
Condition: Parts/Not-Working

An eight-key wooden flute from the London workshop of Christopher Gerock. The instrument is sold as-is and requires restoration work before it can be played. The headjoint and barrel both have cracks in need of repair; the barrel carries a previously applied metal band repair to an existing crack. The crown is missing.

Despite its condition, this is a genuine piece of early nineteenth-century London flute making, with collector and restoration project value for the right buyer.

About the Maker

Christopher Gerock established his woodwind instrument making workshop in London in 1805. The company traded until 1837 and was partnered with Astor & Co. from 1824 to 1827. Gerock later partnered with Wolf, trading as Gerock & Wolf; his earlier address was 76 Bishopsgate, where he worked from 1805 to 1823. An instrument dating from around 1835 would place it near the very end of the firm's independent trading period.
