In like-new condition, having seen very little play since its purchase in April 2022. The blackwood body is clean and unmarked. Hole three is offset to ease the stretch for smaller hands, making the fingering more comfortable. The Folk Flute is Burns's keyless design; it does not include a tuning slide and rings, but plays the same as his standard flute. Blackwood is a dense wood that gives the flute a characteristically dark tone. Players familiar with the model note that the holes are closer together, making it easy on the hands and wrists.

About the Maker

Casey Burns has been making Irish and folk music flutes since 1981, based in Kingston, Washington. His flutes are professional performance instruments intended for Irish and other traditional music, with designs based on the acoustical models of 19th-century flutemakers such as Rudall & Rose, Boosey (Pratten), and Prowse. Over the course of his career he completed more than two thousand instruments. Burns has since retired and is no longer taking new orders.
