Jerry Freeman is the world's only full-time professional penny whistle tweaker, making fine adjustments and modifications to production whistles to optimize their performance. His instruments have gained widespread acclaim and are played by some of the most respected names in Irish traditional music.
This set consists of one head and two bodies: a D body and a C body, both bearing Freeman stickers. The model is the Mellow Dog, Freeman's large-bore wide-body voicing, which draws its inspiration from the Walton's Mellow D. The Walton's original had a warm, round tone thanks to its larger bore, though the mass-produced version could run raspy. The Mellow Dog builds on that concept, resolving the clarity issues while preserving the mellower character. The result is clean and clear in tuning with a round, even tone at moderate volume. The D body would sit comfortably at a moderate-sized session or at home, and having the C body adds real versatility to the set.
