The WhistleSmith Mountain Made Low D is a handmade polymer low whistle produced by Rod Brewer in Maine. The instrument is tuned to just intonation at A=440 and features offset finger holes on both ring fingers for easier reach. At 23 inches overall length, the bore is smoothly finished to minimize moisture buildup and the polymer construction means the instrument holds its pitch across a wide temperature range without the need for a tuning slide.
This example plays with a notably smoky and chiffy tone, on the quieter side of the low D spectrum. It is in excellent condition. A good choice for players seeking a low whistle with a more traditional, organic voice rather than a clean modern sound.
