An early example from Chabrier Peloubet's New York workshop, this flute predates the bulk of his surviving output. The presence of double springs—uncommon on Peloubet instruments - distinguishes this example as a more carefully made piece rather than standard trade work.

The barrel is stamped "P.H. Taylor's 193 Approved." Taylor, an English-born flutist and voice instructor who later became a concert impresario, sold and endorsed flutes bearing his name during his years in New York.

Patrick Olwell's restoration includes a new African blackwood headjoint incorporating the original silver lip plate and embouchure dimensions, along with careful bore work to improve response. The right hand section has a previously grafted short F block repair and a sealed hairline crack near the socket; both repairs remain stable. The A and B notes sit slightly high in the manner of English Nicholson-style flutes and currently require some lipping down; a future owner can fine-tune these down if desired (you can use bit of beeswax or have a tech add a bit of wood dust and superglue and file to fine tune for a more permanent change).

Plays at A=440 with the slide extended only a few millimeters. A rare early Peloubet that is both a beautiful piece of flute history and a great modern player.
