A strong-voiced whistle with an open, flute-like character. The tone is airy without being overly chiffy, giving it a fluid, full quality suited to performance and session playing. The upper register is present and strong; the high A and B require a slightly firmer push, which players will find well within normal range once familiar with the instrument.
The body is aluminum with a Delrin fipple and a tunable head joint, allowing the player to adjust pitch to suit session or stage conditions.
About the Maker
Pablo Sosa, who makes whistles under the name Asturias Whistles, is a flautist from Mexico and a member of the Irish folk music band "An Bodhrán," as well as an invited flautist with "Seisiún." He is also a whistle manufacturer and tutor.
