Incredibly rich tone with surprising power. This instrument responds beautifully across a wide dynamic range; it can be played sweetly and delicately or pushed to a strong, resonant volume that fills a room. The voicing is refined and even across all four corps de rechange, making it a reliable performer in a variety of period contexts.
Constructed in acid-stained French boxwood with polyester alternative ivory mounts and a silver Eb key. The flute includes four corps de rechange (upper middle joints), allowing it to be played at pitches from A=415 to A=440, with two intermediate pitches likely around A=425 and A=432. This range of interchangeable joints makes the instrument versatile for Baroque ensemble work at different pitch standards.
Dating from the early 1990s, the flute is beautifully made and in excellent shape. There is a minor check around the C# tone hole on the A=440 middle joint that was repaired by Rod Cameron himself; the repair has held solidly ever since.
