A near-new example in excellent condition, with just a couple of light marks on the underside. The fipple and windway are formed by a 3D printed head joint, which speaks clearly and contributes to the whistle's notably clean, flute-like tone. Intonation is solid throughout the range, with the two octaves sitting in good balance.
About the Maker
Rui Gomes works out of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal, building brass, aluminium, and wooden whistles and flutes entirely by hand. His shop, operating under the name Sopros RG, covers a wide range of instruments, and his low whistles in particular have drawn positive attention from players looking for an easy-blowing instrument with refined intonation. Gomes uses 3D printed mouthpieces on a number of his metal whistle models.
