Excellent player in as-new condition. The tone is nice and strong throughout both registers, with medium-sized finger holes that make it very comfortable under the hands.
This is serial number 513, a polymer Rudall Refined model featuring Terry McGee's eccentric bore headjoint, elliptical embouchure hole, and long D foot. The flute is approximately 21 years old but has seen very little use; the current consignor never played it, and the previous owner rarely did. It shows no signs of wear.
About the Maker
Terry McGee, based in Canberra, Australia, is one of the most respected makers and researchers in the world of simple-system flutes. His work draws heavily on the designs of the great 19th-century London makers, particularly Rudall & Rose and their successors, but incorporates his own refinements informed by decades of careful study and experimentation. His "Rudall Refined" model is based on the later Rudall, Rose & Carte era instruments, with improvements to tuning, response, and ergonomics. McGee is also widely known for his extensive online writings on flute acoustics, history, and design, which have become an invaluable resource for players and makers alike. His Delrin instruments offer the tonal characteristics and playing feel of his wooden flutes in a material that is stable, durable, and unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity.
