This flute is in excellent condition for its age, featuring small finger holes and playing well in tune at A440 with the slide extended about 10mm. The pads are in good condition. For optimal performance, the headjoint liner should be pulled and resealed. A detailed polish would further enhance its appearance. Contact us after purchase for repair shop recommendations.

Whaley, Royce & Co. Ltd., established in Toronto in February 1888 by Eri Whaley and George C. Royce, was a prominent Canadian firm specializing in musical instruments and publications. Initially, they manufactured brass and percussion instruments, notably producing Canada's first cornet in 1888. Their product lines included the 'Imperial' and 'Ideal' brands. Beyond manufacturing, the company was a significant music publisher, releasing works by various Canadian composers. After Whaley's death in 1920, the firm changed ownership and continued operations until ceasing instrument production in 1975.
