John Gallagher's large-holed Rudall, and this one speaks with real authority and an excellent response. The boxwood feels nice and light in the hands and responds wonderfully. The bottom D is really strong, and the foot notes are quick and ready: John's foot keys fire off as quickly and as readily as every other note on the flute.
The boxwood is stained to a lovely dark color. There are eight keys, with the Bb on a right-hand touch, which works wonderfully. The workmanship is beautiful throughout, and the flute is in excellent condition. A fitted hard case is included.
