A classic example of the Overton lineage, this low A displays the response, balance, and tone that have made instruments from this line so sought after in traditional Irish music. The two octaves speak evenly and with ease, and the windway voicing produces that characteristic Overton sound: full and warm in the lower register, clear and controlled above. It is in excellent playing condition.
The body is aluminium alloy construction, showing some light wear from playing. On aluminium whistles this kind of patina develops naturally over time and tends to give the instrument a certain character rather than detracting from it. The bell end is stamped "Overton" on the underside; inside the bell, Colin Goldie's signature is inscribed by hand.
