Antique 6-Key, D

This flute is sold as-is, for someone who is fairly handy at working on and tinkering with flutes, or willing to have further work done on it. It plays at A440 without extending the slide too far, and its intonation is decent. For now it plays a bit timidly, because it is not yet fully sealing.

The head joint and barrel have previously sealed cracks, some of them glued rather than pinned, so the main thing is making sure they stay sealed. The right-hand keys could stand to be re-floated, as they do not seal perfectly. The fit between the tuning slide and the barrel tubing leaks a little, and a heavier tuning slide grease helps it seal better. The pads and corks are recent, and cosmetically the flute is in relatively nice shape.

The maker and date of manufacture are unknown.
