A really strong bell note on this one. If you have been looking for a low D with enough power to hold its own in a session, this has it in abundance, and the body pops in a way that sets it apart.
The voicing overall sits on the louder side, but the balance between the octaves is genuinely good. You do not have to scream into it to bring the upper notes out, and considering how powerful the bottom D is, the high B speaks with surprisingly little effort.
Michael Burke is a consistent maker and every one of his instruments plays well. Every so often one turns up with that extra something, and this is one of them. Made in 2008.
