A well-made flute with a really nice head joint. The embouchure keeps its original square-cut shape, the head responds really well, and it suits a modern player. It plays at A=440, and there is real potential here: it needs no more than a basic overhaul to become a world-class instrument.
Offered as is. The overhaul it needs is a standard one, with new pads and fresh tenon cork. It comes in a vintage hard case.
About the Maker
Carl Fischer opened a musical instrument repair shop in New York in 1872 and built it into one of the best-known music publishers in America. The firm was also an instrument dealer, and from the 1890s until 1914 it imported wooden flutes made by Emil Rittershausen of Berlin. Fischer-stamped wooden Boehm flutes are generally thought to come from that source, though the workshop behind any individual example is not recorded on the instrument.
