Made in 2023 and virtually unplayed, this is a blackwood and sterling silver keyless flute built in Casey Burns's small-handed configuration. The tone holes are spaced closer together than on a standard flute, and holes 3 and 6 are slightly offset, the second and third holes for each hand rotated to aid reach and a good seal by the finger pad. More relaxed fingers facilitate the playing of ornamentation, which is a real consideration for anyone who has found a standard D flute a stretch. The smaller holes speak a bit quicker, though they slightly reduce the bottom voice of the scale.
The body is African blackwood with sterling silver fittings. The flute is in as-new condition with little to no signs of play.
