About the Maker
Eamonn Cotter is a flute maker and traditional player based in Kilmaley, County Clare. He came to flute making from a background in engineering, and what began as a hobby quickly became a full pursuit. He first reproduced historical models such as Rudall & Rose and Pratten, then moved to his own designs tuned to A=440 for Irish traditional music, with an emphasis on intonation, a comfortable embouchure, and a resonant low register. A longtime member of the group Shaskeen, he has released solo recordings of County Clare music and teaches at workshops including the Willie Clancy Summer School.
