A genuinely fun flute to play. The response is immediate and agile across all registers, and the tuning is excellent throughout. F flutes can be tricky instruments to voice well, but this one plays with the ease and confidence you'd hope for.

The body is Delrin, a dense acetal polymer that is dimensionally stable, essentially maintenance-free, and indifferent to humidity changes. Unlike wood, it requires no acclimatization and holds its voicing reliably over time.

About the Maker

Dave Copley and Marlene Boegli operate their flute workshop in Loveland, Ohio. Their philosophy is to combine painstaking traditional craftsmanship with a solid grounding in engineering and scientific fundamentals, to create instruments with excellent performance and enduring quality and value. Among their offerings beyond the standard D, they make flutes in the keys of C, Eb, F, and G; the F flute design is based on an 8-key Hawkes and Son flute made in ebonite around the very early 1900s. Copley and Boegli flutes have a strong following in the Irish traditional music community and are well regarded for their consistency and playability.
