The classic Overton low D voice: tight and focused, with good back pressure you can lean into, a strong bottom D, and the "cosmic drain pipe" sound these whistles are known for. Colin Goldie's whistles are quite consistent, and the tuning is excellent.
Made by Colin Goldie in the early 2000s, during the period when he was building to the Overton design and the instruments still went out under the Overton name. One-piece and non-tunable. In near-new condition, with a felt pouch.
About the Maker
Bernard Overton (1930 to 2008), an English flute maker and jazz musician, is credited with producing the first modern low whistle in 1971, working with Finbar Furey. Colin Goldie learned the craft from him and earned the right to use the Overton name. After Overton's death in 2008, Goldie went on making whistles under his own name, and they are played by Brian Finnegan, Michael McGoldrick and John McSherry.
