A large-bore, keyless flute in excellent condition. The bore produces a big, strong tone that carries well, with excellent intonation throughout the registers. The instrument features aggressively offset finger holes for both the left and right hand, a special-order configuration suited to a player who prefers a larger-bore instrument and holds the flute in a more traditional grip but has smaller hands. The body and head are both blackwood, with silver fittings.
The flute carries serial number 3507SH. The body and head have a slightly different history: the body was made first as part of a keyed instrument order, then returned by the original customer when their keyed body was ready. Hamilton fitted a new head to that body and sold the instrument as a (semi) used flute, meaning the body is likely a couple of years older than the head, with both parts dating to around 2007.
