Howard's new Close Spacing Low D brings the finger holes significantly closer together than on a standard low whistle, with no added key, so it plays with ordinary whistle fingering and a much easier reach. Howard achieves this with carbon fibre composite acoustic modifiers inside the bore, which keep the tuning in place while the holes move. The trade is a moderate voice rather than the full power of the standard Howard, and Howard describes the Close Spacing as having a little more chiff and a more articulate response. For a player who finds a conventional Low D a stretch, it is a worthy option.
Fitted with the Classic M3 Balanced head, the easiest of Howard's three heads to play and a good fit for all kinds of music. In as-new, mint condition, with its Howard protective tube.
