An excellent Eb, and one with the good stuff in it. The bottom Eb is ripping, really strong, and the intonation is perfect. It is easy to get a sound out of, and just as easy to keep leaning into, which is a combination that makes it a genuine player's instrument and a lot of fun to play.
African blackwood with copper rings and post-mounted keywork, in the six-key configuration.
Gilles Lehart works from a small workshop at Trézélan in Bégard, Brittany, and has been registered as a maker since 1987. Self-taught, he originally built bombarde and biniou alongside flutes and now concentrates on flutes. He is a serious player himself, taking the Brittany championship in 2010 for coupled biniou and bombarde. His waiting list currently runs 20 months , so finding one secondhand means skipping the queue. Landed cost after import taxes into the US are right about what this listing is at so if you're US based, you're paying about the same as the price as-new without having to wait in the queue!
