Response and tone are both excellent: a nice, strong tone, a solid bell note, and a sweet and soulful second register. Like the other non-tunable Chieftains, it is set to sit a little flat when cold and comes up to A=440 once warmed.
The heavy-walled brass gives it a solid tone and real weight in the hands. A low G brings the low whistle sound with a shorter reach than the lower pitches. Comes with a black padded case.
These brass Chieftains were known as the Gold whistles. They are no longer made and rarely come up, and the low G was always a scarce pitch among them. Chieftain whistles are the work of Phil Hardy, whose Kerry Whistles workshop has been building low whistles since 1992.
