The F

The F (‘Flat picker’) is Lowden’s mid-size body shape and a design classic in its own right. Known for its versatility, the F is well suited to a wide range of playing styles—from fingerpicking to light strumming—making it an excellent choice for the all-round guitarist. With a focused midrange, articulate voice, and excellent sustain, the F offers a balance of comfort and projection that performs equally well on stage or in the studio.

Tonewoods

This model pairs a sinker redwood top with Guatemalan rosewood back and sides. Sinker redwood, harvested from old-growth logs submerged in riverbeds, combines the warmth of cedar with the dynamic power of spruce. It delivers a rich, velvety tone with quick response and strong sustain, particularly suited to expressive playing styles.

Guatemalan rosewood—one of George Lowden’s personal favorites—offers clarity, warmth, and definition in equal measure. Often compared to Brazilian rosewood in tonal character, it produces a complex, harmonically rich sound with deep lows, clear trebles, and excellent projection.
