The classic tin whistle sound, without the habits a mass-produced whistle usually arrives with. It is not loud, but it holds its own in a moderate session, and it is a genuinely good performance instrument.
Cillian and Bríd Ó Briain of Dingle, County Kerry take mass-produced whistles and rework them, refining the tuning and reshaping the fipple blade. The blade is filed by hand using clear plastic, reportedly repurposed from CD cases. Cillian Ó Briain is better known as one of the most respected uilleann pipe makers working today, and the same care is evident here.
