Hawkes becomes an important maker as their large hole flutes made later in the 19th cent are were prized by trad musicians; Matt Molloy recorded on his early albums with a Hawkes and son Eb and John Skelton on his Cd's with the House Band.
Shorter head joint allows for playing either at A440 or sharper pitch when required. Intonation is really good at either ends of the tuning spectrum.
Silver keys all work great all the way to bottom C.
