Very responsive, bright and cheerful, with a character that changes nicely from body to body. The D is super well balanced. The C is mellow, expressive and sweet. The Eb is brighter again and quicker to respond, and although its upper notes sit higher in pitch, this one gets up into them with real ease.
The set is one head with three interchangeable bodies in C, D and Eb, in a polymer material with brass rings and a brass tuning slide. Every piece carries the same serial, F/B786, marking it as an original matched set, and it is signed by Pat O'Riordan and dated 1993. The condition is spectacular. It comes in the original red cloth roll, tied with a ribbon.
About the Maker
The late Patrick O'Riordan made whistles in Fort Wayne, Indiana, working through one order at a time, and in his day buyers commonly waited two years or more for a set. His whistles are known for a clear, almost glassy voice, and a matched three-key set in this condition comes along rarely.
