African blackwood body in two pieces with a tuning slide. The workmanship is very clean throughout and the instrument shows no wear. The serial number 5446 is etched on the back.
About the Maker
Ralph Gordon Sweet Jr. founded the Sweetheart Flute Company in Hazardville, Connecticut, where he made wooden flutes, fifes and whistles played by folk and fife and drum musicians around the world. A physics teacher, contra dance caller and lifelong member of the fife and drum community, he transferred the workshop in 2017 to his longtime shop foreman, who continues the tradition under the Musique Morneaux name.
