A really nice flute-like quality to the tone, bright and open, with good volume and excellent intonation. Air requirements are moderate: less back pressure than a Goldie, and less air than an MK. That puts it in a sweet spot, free-blowing without being thirsty, and it makes for a genuine player's instrument.
Anodized with a clear coat over aluminum, with a tuning slide. If you have not spent time with a Reviol, this is a good introduction to them.
Maurice Reviol trained as a woodwind maker in Germany and worked as a repair technician in England before meeting the uilleann pipe maker Cillian Ó Briain in Dingle, County Kerry, in 1998. The two worked together for close to five years on pipes and low whistles. When Ó Briain's pipe waiting list grew past ten years, he gave Reviol his blessing to carry on the low whistle design. Reviol now works from his own workshop in New Zealand.
