Fully restored Rudall, Carte & Co. No. 6919. Medium-sized toneholes provide excellent power and dynamic range. When this flute resurfaced, it was missing its foot, and the late Peter Noy fabricated a replacement short foot that brought out the power of the low D and brought the tuning into alignment for A440 playing. A carbon fiber band has been added near the ring of the foot after a hairline crack was noticed in the socket—this reinforcement ensures the crack will not spread and does not affect the playability of the flute.

The result is a strong bottom D and a rich, full tone throughout. The previous owner added small tuning crescents to holes 2 and 3 to slightly lower their pitch—these can be easily adjusted or removed as needed. Plays at A440 with excellent intonation when the slide extended 17mm (.7"). A strong choice for Irish Traditional Music. Also pairs well with modern headjoints; we tested it with an Olwell headjoint and found the results to be excellent.
